The Story Behind the Name

Our restaurant takes its name from the historic anchor points of a former radio transmitter, still visible from the deck.

Originally built in 1911, these beautifully engineered structures once supported an 86-metre radio aerial that formed part of a communications network linking Swakopmund, Lüderitz, Windhoek, and even Berlin.

When war broke out in 1914, the transmitter was destroyed to prevent it from falling into enemy hands. Today, the remaining anchor points are carefully preserved by the hotel as part of Swakopmund’s rich history.
